When you go for an Invisalign or braces consultation with me, you will go through the following patient journey:
Initial Consultation: An examination of your current dental condition will be done. X-rays are taken to ensure that you have healthy teeth and gums for treatment.
2nd Consultation: I will run through your diagnostic records with you in detail. A treatment plan will be created for you.
A digital simulation will be done to demonstrate the potential outcome of your smile on completion of Invisalign or braces treatment.
Treatment: Depending on whether you take up Invisalign or braces treatment, you will be required to come back for follow-up visits with me.
- Braces: Every 4 weeks
- Invisalign: Every 6 – 8 weeks

If you are wondering why it is a better idea to see a dentist for clear aligners when there are clear aligner brands that allow for Do-It-Yourself options, here are some reasons why:
1. Customized Treatment Plan: A dentist is trained to work with different dental concerns and conditions. They can create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific orthodontic needs, ensuring the best possible results.
2. Accurate Diagnosis: A dentist has the experience accurately diagnose any underlying issues, such as tooth decay, gum disease, or bite problems, which may affect the success of the clear aligner treatment.
3. Ensure Proper Fitting: A dentist will ensure a precise fit of the clear aligners to your teeth, ensuring optimal comfort and effectiveness.
4. Monitor Progress: Regular check-ups with a dentist allow for monitoring of your progress, enabling adjustments to the treatment plan as needed.
5. Prevention of Complications: A dentist can identify potential complications, such as tooth movement or gum recession, and take preventative measures to minimize their impact.
6. Professional Guidance: A dentist can provide guidance on proper care and maintenance of your teeth and aligners, ensuring optimal oral health throughout the treatment.
By seeing a dentist for clear aligners, you can ensure a successful and effective treatment that meets your unique needs and achieves the desired results.
While dental veneers are a good way of improving the appearance of your smile, they are definitely not a substitute for Invisalign (clear aligners) or braces.
To help you understand why this is so, here are some reasons why:
- Dental veneers are a cosmetic and not an orthodontic solution: Dental veneers cover the front of your teeth to improve dental problems like chips, cracks, gaps or discolouration of your teeth. They are unable to resolve orthodontic problems like dental misalignment or crooked teeth.
- Dental veneers do not correct dental misalignment issues: While dental veneers can give you with a renewed smile, they are unable to address the alignment of your teeth. Doing dental veneers instead of Invisalign or braces can result in continued tooth wear, gum recession, or bite problems.
The best solution is to undergo orthodontic treatment, such as Invisalign or traditional braces, to correct the alignment issues before considering veneers.
When you book an appointment with me, you might find yourself being turned down for treatments that you have asked for.
While turning down patients who want expensive and costly dental treatments might seem bizarre, this is done because I strongly believe in ethical dentistry.
I do not believe in rendering unnecessary treatments to patients who do not require them.
This principle guides me in how I practice cosmetic dentistry.
I have had more than 10 years of experience working with cosmetic dentistry procedures.
As an Invisalign accredited general dentist with an interest in aligning teeth, I work with both Invisalign and braces patients on a daily basis.
